Financial Support

Contrary to popular belief, there is no government support for parish churches. Similarly, many people think that the Church of England has deep pockets.

The work of individual parishes and the upkeep of their buildings (including ancient, historically important churches) are supported entirely by the members of parish communities.

We are blessed in Ruislip with a beautiful, ancient church building and a vibrant, varied and active parish community life. Our parish life, outreach and mission can only be supported and grow if they are properly resourced with time, talents and money. There are many opportunities to give time and talents to the work of the parish and these are detailed elsewhere on this website.

However, just as they are for many people and organisations generally, finances are tight and the economics of life are challenging.

Our financial support of the work of the parish is an important part of our Christian life. Not only does our giving enable work in our own locality, but it supports the wider work of the Church through the contribution St Martin’s Parish makes to the Diocesan Common Fund. This fund directly provides clergy for parishes with far fewer resources, especially in areas of poverty and deprivation.  You can find out more in a video about the Common Fund.

Our giving also helps us support charitable work both nearby and overseas.

How can you give?

Our planned giving schemes provide simple and easy ways for you to make a regular contribution.

We encourage regular planned giving using a Standing Order direct from a bank account. Not only is this convenient, but it also helps us to give to God as a priority in our lives rather than to give what is left over. You can download the forms to arrange a Standing Order and make a Gift Aid declaration.

Alternatively you can make a regular commitment through our weekly envelope scheme and make a Gift Aid declaration.

You can, of course, give through the collection at Sunday services.

If you feel you would like to make a one-off donation to the work of the parish, or the Church or for some other particular purpose then please do contact the Vicar.

Some people feel they would like to make provision in their Will for a legacy to the Church. If you would like to do this then please contact the Vicar.
